Brentwood is changing faster than almost any other corner of Burnaby. What was a low-density commercial strip along Lougheed Highway a decade ago is now a skyline of slim concrete towers, with The Amazing Brentwood — a billion-dollar mixed-use redevelopment — anchoring the district around the Brentwood Town Centre SkyTrain station on the Millennium Line. New tower phases keep launching, and the neighbourhood's population has grown sharply with each completion.
New construction brings new lock hardware. The towers at Amazing Brentwood and the surrounding builds along Willingdon Avenue and Beta Avenue are fitted with current-generation Schlage B-series deadbolts and, increasingly, building-integrated fob/keypad systems at the suite door level. When a suite deadbolt fails, gets stuck, or a key is lost, we're the call — building management controls the lobby fobs, but the suite cylinder belongs to the resident.
Not all of Brentwood is new towers. The blocks northeast of the SkyTrain station — particularly the streets running off Rosser Avenue and around Willingdon Park — still have mid-century rental apartments and some older detached homes. These buildings often have Kwikset or older Weiser hardware that hasn't been touched in years. A rekey here sometimes reveals a cylinder that's been worn past the point of reliable pinning; when that happens, we replace it same-visit.
