Leafy, established homes on large lots at the base of Burnaby Mountain — one of the city's most overlooked residential pockets.
Government Road runs along the lower flanks of Burnaby Mountain, connecting the base of Gaglardi Way to the residential neighbourhoods east of SFU. It is one of Burnaby's more distinctive addresses — a leafy, relatively quiet road lined with large single-family properties, many on lots that are generous by Metro Vancouver standards. The area has the feel of a settled rural edge within a major city: mature trees, long driveways, and homes that were built to last.
The residential character here is almost entirely single-family. Many of the homes date from the 1960s through the 1980s, when this part of Burnaby was developed as a desirable address on the mountain's accessible lower slopes. Lock hardware from that era — Weslock, Arrow, and early Schlage cylinders — is common. These cylinders can often still be rekeyed, but after multiple tenancy and ownership cycles, they're frequently at or past the point where fresh pins won't engage reliably. We assess before we recommend a change, and we carry stock on the truck for same-visit replacement.
Larger homes in this area often have multiple entry points — a front entry, a rear or side door, a garage man-door, and sometimes a secondary suite entry. A whole-home rekey covering all cylinders in a single visit is efficient and more economical than separate calls. We quote the full job on the phone so you know the cost before we arrive.
Safe services come up regularly on Government Road. The area's larger, older homes are exactly the profile where a combination dial safe installed years ago is now forgotten or an inherited floor safe needs to be opened and relocated. We work non-destructively where possible and tell you honestly when drilling is the only option. No surprises on approach.
The proximity to SFU and Gaglardi Way means some properties here are rented to graduate students, faculty, or staff — a different tenancy profile than the city average. Rekeying between tenants, or adding a smart lock keypad to eliminate key management for a frequently-changing household, are both common requests.
Government Road is accessible from Gaglardi Way at one end and from the Hastings–Burnaby Mountain connector at the other. The road itself is straightforward to navigate. Gaglardi Way can back up during SFU peak hours — we factor that in when quoting an arrival window. Late evenings and weekends, access is quick. Most Government Road addresses are 25–40 minutes from a central Burnaby dispatch point depending on time of day.
Every job handled by a licensed mobile technician — no subcontractors.
